LETTER D — HOW TO USE IT

Print the Letter D tracing worksheet and have your child trace the uppercase D and lowercase d on the guided lines. Encourage them to trace slowly and pay attention to the straight and curved strokes that make up each letter. Remind them to notice how the uppercase and lowercase forms look different.

As your child traces, say the /d/ sound together and name simple words that begin with D, such as dog, duck, door, and drum. This helps children associate the letter with familiar vocabulary and beginning sounds.

For extra practice, have your child trace uppercase D and lowercase d several times before attempting to write them independently. You can also practice distinguishing lowercase d from lowercase b by showing both letters side by side and discussing the direction of their straight lines and curves.

This worksheet works well for preschool, pre-K, and kindergarten learners practicing letter formation, alphabet recognition, and beginning phonics skills.
