LETTER J — HOW TO USE IT

Print the Letter J tracing worksheet and have your child trace the uppercase J and lowercase j on the guided lines. Encourage them to begin at the top and follow the curved strokes carefully. Help them notice that lowercase j extends below the writing line and includes a dot above it.

As your child traces, say the /j/ sound together and name simple words that begin with J, such as jam, jar, jellyfish, and jacket. Have your child repeat the words and listen for the beginning sound.

For extra practice, ask your child to trace uppercase J and lowercase j with a crayon or marker before trying to write them independently. You can also have them look for the letter J in books, alphabet cards, or familiar names.

This worksheet works well for preschool, pre-K, and kindergarten learners developing handwriting, letter recognition, and early phonics skills at home or in the classroom.
