LETTER P — HOW TO USE IT
Print the Letter P tracing worksheet and have your child trace the uppercase P and lowercase p on the guided lines. Encourage them to follow each stroke slowly, practicing the straight lines and rounded portions of the letters. Remind them that lowercase p extends below the writing line.
As your child traces, say the /p/ sound together and name familiar words that begin with P, such as pig, pencil, pizza, and pumpkin. Encourage your child to repeat each word and listen for the beginning sound.
For extra practice, have your child trace uppercase P and lowercase p with a crayon or marker before writing the letters independently. You can also compare lowercase p and lowercase q to help your child recognize the difference between these similarly shaped letters.
This worksheet works well for preschool, pre-K, and kindergarten learners practicing handwriting, letter identification, and beginning phonics skills.
