LETTER U — HOW TO USE IT

Print the Letter U tracing worksheet and have your child trace the uppercase U and lowercase u on the guided lines. Encourage them to follow the curved strokes slowly, practicing smooth movements while keeping the letters open at the top.

As your child traces, practice the short /u/ sound together using words such as umbrella, up, under, and upset. Have your child repeat each word and listen carefully for the beginning vowel sound.

For extra practice, have your child trace uppercase U and lowercase u with a crayon or marker before trying to write them independently. You can also compare lowercase u and lowercase n to help your child recognize how their shapes differ. Encourage them to find the letter U in familiar words or on an alphabet chart.

This worksheet is a helpful activity for preschool, pre-K, and kindergarten learners developing handwriting skills, vowel recognition, and early phonics awareness.
