LETTER V — HOW TO USE IT

Print the Letter V tracing worksheet and have your child trace the uppercase V and lowercase v on the guided lines. Encourage them to begin at the top and follow the diagonal strokes carefully, practicing the pointed shape formed where the two lines meet.

As your child traces, say the /v/ sound together and name familiar words that begin with V, such as van, vest, violin, and vase. Have your child repeat each word and listen for the beginning sound.

For extra practice, have your child trace uppercase V and lowercase v with a finger before using a pencil or crayon. Then encourage them to write the letters independently. You can also compare V and W and ask your child to notice the difference in the number of pointed shapes.

This worksheet works well for preschool, pre-K, and kindergarten learners practicing diagonal letter strokes, alphabet recognition, and beginning phonics skills.
