LETTER Z — HOW TO USE IT
Print the Letter Z tracing worksheet and have your child trace the uppercase Z and lowercase z on the guided lines. Encourage them to start at the top and follow each stroke carefully, practicing the horizontal and diagonal lines needed to form the letter correctly.
As your child traces, say the /z/ sound together and name familiar words that begin with Z, such as zebra, zipper, zoo, and zigzag. Encourage your child to repeat each word and listen for the beginning sound.
For extra practice, have your child trace uppercase Z and lowercase z with a crayon or marker before trying to write the letters independently. You can also encourage them to find and circle the letter Z in books or alphabet charts. Have them compare uppercase Z and lowercase z to recognize their similar shapes.
This worksheet works well for preschool, pre-K, and kindergarten learners at home, during small-group handwriting instruction, or as part of an alphabet learning center.
